I get a chuckle out of folks who think they know the City of Detroit by reading a piece in the New York Times. Or, any other liberal mainstream publication.
Apparently, there is a new movie hitting the big screen this summer about 1967 and Detroit’s recent history. Let me be perfectly clear: I’m not from New Detroit, One Detroit or any other Kumbaya campaign that resonates with many media consumers on the current Motown narrative(s).
I was MADE in Detroit. Born and bred in it. And, absolutely of it.
Now, if your bag is learning about what’s going down in what was once the country’s 5th-largest city, be my welcomed guest. But, they don’t know. They might be adorably cute. They might be snow white. Hell, they might even be so-called “progressives”.
They damn sure don’t know, though.
