I, finally, got to see Nate Parker’s phenomenal Birth of a Nation this week.
Despite all the earlier protests and threats to boycott this very important film in “all hopes of freeing a legacy” for so-called liberal blocs and varied constituencies within them, the screenplay depicted a quest in the name of courageous freedom.
Now, fast forward to the activism on display in the Nation’s Capital tonight. There are no armed Black men in the midst of moral outrage and/or indignation anywhere near 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W. regarding tomorrow’s presidential inauguration.
I guarantee you that you’ll find some other American citizens out there expressing their First Amendments rights, though.
Why? Because it ain’t a slave revolt. There certainly won’t be one this weekend, either.
